Ticks tend to live in warm, humid climates.  Similar to fleas, they’re a parasite that love nothing more than feasting on the blood of its host.  Similar to their spider cousins, ticks have eight legs.

Ticks are well known for causing a host of diseases.  Some of them include, Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Typhus.

Much like fleas, ticks can be brought into your home from either your pet or yourself.  Ticks are commonly found in wooded areas and can fall off trees or bushes onto you or your pet.  Keeping your pet washed and using tick repellent  and keeping covered while you’re in a wooded area help keep ticks from becoming a problem, but sometimes this isn’t enough.

Ticks can attach themselves to their host and continually eat.  Removing them is best done mechanically, and they can cause small sores from their bites.
